abstract
  • Da Monogoloids is a common source of confusion amongst fans of the mid to late nighties house scenes of New York, Paris and Chicago. The name represents two separate creative outlets. The first of these was “Spark Da Meth” a House single produced solely by Armand Van Helden in 1996 and the second was a loose DJ collective featuring Van Helden, Daft Punk, DJ Sneak, Junior Sanchez, Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, Ian Pooley, Laidback Luke, Basement Jaxx and The Rhythm Masters. As a DJ collective Da Mongoloids would often perform a mixed bill of DJ sets at clubs around the world with individual sets by the artists mentioned above. Although Da Mongoloids never officially disbanded as each artist's musical output drifted away from the original House sound on which Da Mongoloids was founded the collective naturally ceased to exist.
