A confession is a statement – made by a person or by a group of persons – acknowledging some personal fact that the person (or the group) would ostensibly prefer to keep hidden. The term presumes that the speaker is providing information that he believes the other party is not already aware of, and is frequently associated with an admission of a moral or legal wrong:

  • Een schuldbelijdenis of confessie van zonden is een erkentenis dat men iets gedaan heeft wat men niet had behoren te doen. De termen schuldbelijdenis en confessie van zonden zijn religieuze of ethische begrippen.Als het om iets gaat dat bij de wet verboden is, wordt dit meestal een bekentenis genoemd.
  • Syndabekännelse är ett begrepp i kristen teologi. Utgångspunkten är att vissa handlingar anses bryta mot Guds vilja och därför anses vara synder. När man blir medveten om att vara skyldig till en synd, skall man enligt den kristna tron rikta sig till Gud med en uppriktig syndabekännelse. Han svarar då med förlåtelse.   • 表白，或稱告白（confession），原意為向他人坦誠陳述自己內心的秘密或想法。由於日本文化中，向心儀的對象表达爱意的行動亦稱為“告白”，因此告白一詞常等同為示愛，在这种情况下通常被认为是建立恋爱关系的方式。 表白可以通过各种方式，如当面表达、写情书等。隨著近年社群媒體的發達，也有以傳送短訊表達愛意。 告白的原意理應訴說自己對對方的情意，不應用告白的名義，要求對方給你個交代！
  • La reconciliación es el «restablecimiento de la concordia y la amistad entre dos o más partes enemistadas».​Reconciliación para y Frans de Waal en su libro Natural Conflict Resolution es: «Reunión amistosa post-conflictual entre previos oponentes que restaura una relación social alterada por el conflicto. En este sentido, la reconciliación es un mecanismo de resolución de conflictos. Si esta función no está implicada o no puede demostrarse, debe utilizarse un término más descriptivo».​
