  • Born December 30, 1979 in Gadsden, Alabama, Yelawolf spent much of his childhood in various locations around the southern United States, including Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Atlanta, Georgia, and Antioch, Tennessee. Atha is of Caucasian and Cherokee descent, and the name Yelawolf is a reference to his Native American roots. Yelawolf is an avid skateboarder and made attempts at a professional skateboarding career but was forced to abandon it due to injuries. He began releasing mixtapes independently in 2007, and was briefly signed to Columbia Records in 2007, leaving the label the same year along with Kawan %22KP%22 Prather. In 2010 he appeared on the track %22Down This Road%22 from [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Bizarre+(2)]Bizarre[/url]'s third studio album %22Friday Night at St. Andrews%22, and on Big Boi's first solo album %22Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty%22 track %22You Ain't No DJ%22 which was produced by AndrĂ© 3000. Appearing on Paul Wall's fifth studio album %22Heart of a Champion%22 track %22Live It%22, which also featured Jay Electronica and Raekwon, which was produced by Travis Barker, as well. In 2010, Yelawolf confirmed he had signed with Interscope Records, announcing that he is working in his debut studio album with the label, and that he had a desire to work with Eminem.On July 2, 2010, Yelawolf told Rap-Up that he went to Eminem's Studio in Detroit, Michigan to meet him and record a track for Yelawolf's upcoming debut studio album titled %22Trunk Muzik: 0-60%22, being his first project with a major label and set to be released at October 26 of the year under Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment/Interscope Records.

  • Michael Wayne Atha (born December 30, 1979), better known as Yelawolf, is an American hip hop recording artist from Gadsden, Alabama. He is currently signed to Shady Records and Interscope Records. Yelawolf released his independent debut studio album titled Creekwater in 2005. From 2005 to 2010 he also released an extended play and four mixtapes. The last of the four, titled Trunk Muzik, amassed a strong following for the rapper, eventually landing him a deal with Interscope Records, which re-released the mixtape as Trunk Muzik 0-60 later that year.In January 2011, Yelawolf signed with Eminem's record label, Shady Records, and released his album, Radioactive on November 21, 2011. The album debuted at number 27 on the Billboard 200. Yelawolf released a sequel to his breakthrough mixtape Trunk Muzik, titled Trunk Muzik Returns on March 14, 2013. His second album, Love Story, was released on April 21, 2015.
