| - Lani McIntire, Hawaiian guitar and steel guitar player, was born December 15, 1904 in Honolulu. He was the brother of Dick McIntire. He joined the navy with his brother Dick and served on the same ship. Lani is well known as a singer and band leader, but did play the steel guitar very well. It is said that he played steel for the soundtrack of one movie, but the name of the movie is unknown. He appeared as vocalist and band leader in “Waikiki Wedding”, “Honolulu”, “Hurricane”, and “South of Pago Pago”, and sang with his own orchestra at numerous night clubs, hotels, and radio shows. He composed many popular songs, including The One Rose. The Lani McIntire Hawaiians were the resident band at the Lexington Hotel’s Hawaiian Room in New York from 1947 until his death June 17, 1951.
