| - From Sandy Hook, Kentucky. 1970, at age 15, began his professional musical career when he and his friend Ricky Skaggs worked with Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys. That same year, Keith and Ricky recorded a duet album. 1973, worked with Jimmy Gaudreau in a short-lived band called “The Country Store.” 1975, returned to Ralph Stanley's Clinch Mountain Boys as lead singer and guitarist. 1981, worked with J.D. Crowe and the New South. Embarked on solo career in 1985; hit the charts with his RCA single, “Miami, My Amy” in 1986. Died on May 9, 1989 in Nashville of alcohol poisoning. He was 35 years old.

| - Jackie Keith Whitley (July 1, 1955 – May 9, 1989), known professionally as Keith Whitley, was an American country music singer. During his short career, Whitley charted 19 singles on the Billboard country charts.Born in Ashland, Kentucky, Whitley grew up in nearby Sandy Hook. Whitley began his career there in 1970, performing in Ralph Stanley's band. Establishing himself as a lead singer in bluegrass music, Whitley moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1983 and began his recording career there. His first Top 20 Country Hit single, %22Miami, My Amy%22, was released in 1986. While touring for his album L.A. to Miami, he married country singer Lorrie Morgan. In 1988, his first three singles from his studio album Don't Close Your Eyes, the title song, %22When You Say Nothing at All%22 and %22I'm No Stranger to the Rain%22 were number-one hits. Several years of alcoholism severely deteriorated his health and he died in 1989 at the age of 33. His later two singles, %22I Wonder Do You Think of Me%22 and %22It Ain't Nothin'%22, were released after his death. Whitley continues to influence an entire generation of singers and songwriters.
