abstract
  • UK blues guitarist and vocalist. Part of the late 60's UK blues scene brought together on the Blue Horizon label. Label-mates of Fleetwood Mac backed him on a few tracks on his debut album, such as John McVie, Mick Fleetwood and friend Peter Green (2), who introduced him to Mike Vernon. In the early days Bennett was mainly a guitar/harmonica/pedal drum solo act popular in clubs, often backed on vocals by Stella Sutton, whom he met at Epsom Art College and later married. By the 1970s Bennett had signed to manager Clifford Davis which gave him a higher profile and appearances in the USA, such as a tour with John Mayall.Born: 23 September 1946.Died: 26 March 1976, Warwickshire, in a vehicle crash aged 29, driving home after a session with Memphis Slim.Bennett had four children, Joe, Hannah, Esther and Ben by Stella, who ceased performing after his death.

  • Anthony %22Duster%22 Bennett (23 September 1946 – 26 March 1976) was a British blues singer and musician. Based in London, his first album Smiling Like I'm Happy saw him playing as a one-man band, playing a bass drum with his foot and blowing a harmonica on a rack while strumming a 1952 Les Paul Goldtop guitar given to him in 1968 by Peter Green. Backed by his girlfriend Stella Sutton and the original Fleetwood Mac on three tracks, the album was well received. He remained popular on the local blues club scene until his death in a car crash in 1976.
